On the Wheel Again

Anyone else feel like a hamster on a wheel with this whole TTC thing?

I do. I guess when it’s meant to be it will be.

Maybe.

That’s what I keep telling myself, anyway. *sigh*

‘I don’t know if I can even honestly say that we’re trying this month. I’m still charting and I began taking B2 and B12 again to try and get my charts back on track. My eating has been a lot better this week and over all, other than not getting enough sleep I think I’m doing alright.

J is tired a lot and worried about getting a job and I know that that has a lot to do with how he feels about TTC. Fact is, we’ve been unofficially trying for two years last month. We’ve been officially trying since last May. I’m 36, he’s 43 and time is running out. So should we continue to try and get pregnant during this period in our lives with the economy so up in the air? Do we have a choice if we want to have children?

So yeah, all things being equal I think we’re kind of half-assing it. I’m charting and taking vitamins but we’re not really timing BD any more or less than usual. Gone are the days where BD is possible every day. I think every other day would be the best we could do if we really did put our minds to it (and that’s okay with me). But that’s not happening either. Maybe once every three days… four, sometimes? Does it really matter?

I’d be lying though if I said that there wasn’t just the smallest part of me that resented the economy being bad and the Euro being up the in air, and my husband (though no fault of his own) being unemployed.

But it is what it is and in the long, grand scheme of things I know that I really don’t have any problems at all. I am so blessed beyond what so many have, I don’t want to complain too loudly.

Here’s my chart, I’m checking it against a chart from last June since that one seems to be the closest. Besides, it’s fun to compare.

Chart

So who knows? Maybe I’ll get pregnant this month. I doubt it, but then, anything is possible. Right?

In Which I Begin Anew

Happy 2012!

I wanted to stop in and quickly update where we stand right now.

*For the really quick version skip to the bottom for a summary.

You know how sometimes it takes stepping back to gain the perspective you need to see what is staring you in the face?Well, that’s kind of what has happened in the last month or so.

I began charting back in mid May- about half way through my cycle. I noticed that first month that my LP was on the short side and began taking B2 and B12 in an attempt to lengthen it. My charts immediately improved. Until September, that is.

In September I took a business trip right around the time I was supposed to ovulate and it threw everything off. Since then, my cycles have been totally out of whack. I’ve only had just the one anovulatory cycle, but my O days have been all over the place and my LP has been different from month to month. I assumed that it was that dang anovulatory cycle that did it.

I believe now that I assumed wrong.

Looking back on it I realized that something else happened around that same time period that could also have had a huge impact on it.

Our C%BRA insurance ran out the end of July, our private insurance began the beginning of August. Now, we’re very fortunate to have been able to take advantage of private plan insurance but one of the down sides was it meant that we now have a $100 yearly prescription deductible. That may not seem like a lot, but to us, the idea of spending $100  just a few months before the end of the year when the whole thing rolls over and begins new seemed silly.

I was only taking one medicine, Adderall. I have a mild (thank God) form of ADD- it’s not so bad that I can’t work or function without medicine, but it is enough that the medicine makes life easier. When I stopped taking it, I also found that it had an impact on my health that I hadn’t anticipated.

A lot of people will say that Adderall has an appetite suppressant quality- and for them, that may well be the case. My dosage is so low (read: my fifteen year old takes a higher dose than I do)  that I never really noticed that part of it. What I did notice was that all of the things that I normally do to ensure that I eat properly; things like preparing my lunch the night before (or in some cases, cooking on the weekends for the week), coupon clipping to make sure that we have the extra money that eating organically and cleanly is available, remembering throughout the day to sip my water, basic things that ensure that I stay healthy I stopped doing when I stopped taking my medicine.

Having mild ADD is frustrating because you aren’t always aware of what you’re missing. And then when you are aware of it and you strive to focus on that one missing thing, you instantly lose focus on something else.

I couldn’t afford to lose focus in my work. So that became my main focus and everything else suffered. I’ve gained about twenty pounds, I’ve all but stopped blogging, I’ve basically been living in a bubble for these past several months and it’s been driving me crazy!!

What I’m getting at is that the extra twenty pounds coupled with the crappy eating habits, the preservatives, the additives, the well, dare I say it? Shit that has been entering my body for these last four months has probably also had an impact on my cycles. Garbage in- Garbage Out and all that. Right?

So here we are in January and I’ve just gotten a new prescription. Yippee!! I paid the damn deductible (that hurt) and fought with my insurance company over it. It seems that they will no longer accept the generic that I’ve always taken and that WAS a $15 co-pay. Now I have to have the name brand stuff and it will cost me $75 a month! Needless to say, I’ll be calling my doctor next week to talk with her about switching medicines. I can’t justify that much money each month.

So there you have it. I slightly rambling explanation that could have just as easily been summed up as:

No medicine = Crap consumed + No focus  = Messed up cycles = No baby

I start taking my medicine again in the morning. I’m so excited! I hope it doesn’t take me too long to get this extra weight off. I’m shooting for about 20 pounds by Valentines Day. And yeah. that’s a lot, but I think I’ll drop the first eight pounds really quickly (I usually do). So it evens out a little better from there.

So here are my goals for the next five and a half weeks:

I’m happy goal: 10 pounds lost.

I’m ecstatic goal: 20 pounds lost.

Here’s to hoping for a better, healthier, more prosperous 2012!

11/28/11

NOPE!

I probably should’ve updated sooner. Oops.

So I don’t know if I had a chemical or if it was a false positive but I am most definitely NOT pregnant.

And that’s okay.

A couple of days after my last post AF showed up with force. I think my body was trying to make up for the anovulatory cycle I had a couple of months ago. I’ve done nothing but spot since then so this month was nice in that I know that everything is back to working like it should.

I’m not sure if we’re going to try this month. I know that we’re losing time and that I’m not getting any younger, but our lives are very much up in the air right now and I’m not sure that getting pregnant now would be the best idea. I guess we’ll play it by ear.

J’s job is still very much up in the air, we thought that we would’ve heard something before now but I’m afraid that the slide into the holiday’s has slowed down the process. We keep praying that something will happen soon!

Anyway, here’s to another good month!

11/17/11

Am I, or Am I Not?

OMG!

I still haven’t started y’all!!

I’ve been thinking that I’m going to start at any time because I’ve had some killer low back pain and menstrual type cramping going on. Hell, I even slept with a pad on a couple of nights ago because I was just that sure that I was going to start. I’ve taken a couple of pregnancy tests before today and they’ve all been stone cold negative.

Then today, I notice that my chart decided to not continue the fast crash that leads to AF. It actually rebounded a little. Not a lot mind you, but enough that it made me wonder what the heck is going on. You'll notice a couple of open circles on my chart for the last few days- my test time changed from 5:45 am to 7:30 am- not a huge change but enough to warrant the open circles I guess. I thought about tweaking the temperatures down by a point and a half but honestly, it was such a small difference that it hardly seemed to matter. Regardless of the tweak, the differences remain the same.

So I took another test this morning, just to convince myself that my body has just decided to be stubborn again this cycle.

Was it positive, you might be wondering?

Well. I’m wondering that too!

Grrrr! Yes, there was the faintest of second lines on the test strip, so faint that I couldn’t get a decent picture of it on my cell phone. So faint that I’m half convinced that I’m seeing things and that it’s just a fluke, a shadow, my imagination, fate playing tricks on me… you get the idea.

So am I pregnant? I have no idea. I’m afraid to think about it too much. But you can bet your sweet backside that I’ll be testing again tomorrow morning!

Here’s the grainy, fuzzy, not-really-helpful-at-all-picture that I took. Try not to laugh at my craziness, m’kay?

So what do you think? Am I totally nuts?!?

CD 28: 11 DPO

ARG! This whole process is making a crazy woman out of me!

No, we were not “trying” this month- we had decided that well in advance. Unfortunately, I was just coming off from a long anovulatory cycle so everything was kind of messed up. I ovulated on CD 17 instead of around CD 14 and inadvertently BD on the day I ovulated. I maintain that the likelihood of a BFP this month is slim, for one thing due to weird schedules and periodic illnesses J’s guys were less than fresh, know what I mean?

The problem is that even knowing all of that I’m still hoping deep down that this will be the month. I’m crazy, right? This isn’t the month! I have no symptoms that aren’t AF related, I don’t ‘feel’ pregnant, nothing I’ve seen or felt has made me think otherwise. So why can’t I stop hoping?

chartgraph_module.php

If I follow a typical cycle length I can expect AF on Tuesday. I know I’m crazy, I know it. And yet I’m still praying for that small chance.

In other news, I’m being considered for a Director’s position at my work and J is being heavily courted by a huge company that seems to have made up their minds to hire him. We don’t know where yet or even when, just that they want him for something. Nice and vague, huh? I know that deep down that this probably isn’t the best time for us to get pregnant. We have a lot of changes coming up in the near months, including a move.

And yet I still hold out hope.

*praying*praying*praying*

A Sight For Sore Eyes

I don’t mind telling you that when I took my temperature this morning and was rewarded by crosshairs I did a happy dance. Smile Well, I DID have crosshairs, now their just dotted (why the change FF?) but still, after last month I’ll take it!

I’m a little concerned about how the time change is going to effect my chart- ordinarily it wouldn’t be a big thing but as I’m on the fence it could matter.

Chart

So we hauled off and accidently BD on the day I ovulated. Oops! So much for not trying this month! Still, I think the chances of our actually conceiving this month are very very slim. I guess we’ll know pretty soon one way or the other.

All fingers, toes, and eyes have been crossed for the possibility of a job. We’re in a really good position for a really great opportunity sometime in the next week so please pray hard for a good outcome for us. We really need the good news!

CD18: Update

I thought I’d pop in for a quick update. There’s not a whole lot to report; we’re not actively trying this month (and frankly, I’m still holding my breath to see if I ovulate) so there’s not too much to say.

Here’s how the ole chart is looking:

chartgraph_module.php

I came down with a sinus infection/ear infection around CD 9 that lasted for a few days- I think that’s why my temperatures were so weird. I’m kind of waiting to see if my temperatures keep going up. If they did than I think I can safely relax. I’m wondering if my stopping all of the supplements I had been taking had anything to do with my having an anovulatory cycle. When I began taking B6, Maca, and L-Arginine I saw my ovulation day move from CD 22 to CD 14. When I took that business trip back in September I goofed and left them back at my in-laws house. By the time I got back a week later I was out of the habit and well past the point of no return for that month.

I still haven’t began taking them again- I don’t know why. I guess I’m pouting a little over taking a month off. I know that I still need those nutrients but I’m kind of enjoying my morning coffee and lack of a pill pack- ya know?

In other news, we’re I somehow miraculously able to become pregnant I would so totally have to buy this:

baby bunny

So stinkin’ cute!!

Starting Fresh

Kinda.

AF typically lasts four days for me, with the last day being mostly spotting. When I began spotting last week it was mostly just that, but it lasted for exactly four days. I’ve decided for sanities sake to call it AF, mark my chart accordingly and move forward. I’m trying to pay closer attention to other signs of ovulation this month just to be sure that I am in fact, on a new cycle.

I’ve considered buying OPK’s but tossed that idea as we’re not actually trying to get pregnant this month. Almost every member of my family has a July birthday and frankly, I don’t want another one. We’ve also got just too much going on right now for us to think about conception. We’ll probably pick it back up next month.

Here’s my chart so far, this is cycle day 9 if your curious. I woke up this morning sick so today’s temperature isn’t being factored. I just really hope that this doesn’t throw off ovulation this month. I really need the peace of mind that comes with a new chart, ya know. I can deal with not getting pregnant with my body cooperating (for now, anyway), but I’m having a harder time dealing with it when it’s not!

In other news, this is a big, important week for our family- there is the possibility that by this time next week (give or take a day) my husband may have found a job. If you happen to be the praying sort, we’d sure appreciate the help!

chartgraph_module.php

I never thought I’d appreciate having a chart in the WTO side of things as much I do this one!

Just For Me

I did something on Sunday that was just for me- and I liked it. So much that I’ve decided to keep with it. It’s nothing earth shattering mind you, and frankly something that most people do regularly.

I set a goal.

I’m going to sign up for a 5K on December 17th- a scant nine weeks away from last weekend. There. I said it and I’ve posted it online. It must be true now, right?

I’ve never actually run for more than a minute or so at a time in my life- I’ve participated in one 5K in the past- last year, but I walked the whole thing.

I honestly don’t believe that I’m going to be able to run the whole thing in December, but I’d like to better than just walking- and I think that goal is doable.

My goal is two fold: I want to follow the C25K program as closely as I can (my knees are twice my actual age) and I also want to work out in the gym on the off days. I had one of the trainers at my work (local non-profit health facility) put together a thirty minute circuit for me a few weeks ago. I tried it out on Sunday and loved it. I’ve been trying to do a full circuit plus thirty minutes on the elliptical on the days that I’m not learning how to run. The whole thing comes in at about an hour and is just about perfect for my level of fitness right now.

Here’s how this week has gone down so far:

Sunday: Full circuit plus 30 min on elliptical.

Monday: Was supposed to begin W1D1 of C25K but began spotting that day and felt weak. Decided that caution was the better part of valor and walked for 35 minutes instead. Spent most of the day hobbling about as my newly awakened muscles revolted from the day before.

Tuesday: Full circuit plus 20 minutes on elliptical. I was immensely proud of myself for this workout. It is really really hard to work out in a place that you’ve spent all day laboring in. Tuesday was especially hard as I spent the majority of the day in meetings and then getting screamed at by the public ( I handle financial stuff). Working out around people who you’re feeling less than generous about is hard- especially when they’re in MUCH better shape than you. Still, 20 on the elliptical was the best I could do, I was just too tired. I’m calling it a victory as I stood outside the doors for five minutes trying to NOT talk myself out of going in. I went in and I did it. Total victory there.

Wednesday: Off work today so decided to take advantage of the cooler temperatures and try W1D2 outside- I’m so glad I did! Honestly, about a third of the way through the program I really thought that there was no way I could do it. I’m not just saying that. My shoes are old and worn out, my feet were killing me, my body was just plain tired, and really, to be totally honest, I was just kind of OVER IT. Ya know? But I dug in and finished it and am stinkin’ proud of my out of shape self for doing it. I accomplished what I set out to do, plus a little more (as I was still not back to my house my cool down was about five minutes longer than intended). Yay me!

running

I’ll leave you with this picture I found on Pinterest. I’m 100% sure that I made this toddler look good towards the end of this first ‘run’.

10/18/11

Christmas May Have Come Early

I don’t know how to formulate a post that covers what I’m feeling right now so I’ll just say that when I took my temperature this morning (after warring with myself for ten minutes wondering if there was even any point) I discovered this:

chartgraph_module.php

See??? Do you see what I did? That’s right, a HA-UGE temperature drop! Could it be? Could AF FINALLY be on her way?

Oh please-oh please-oh please!!!!

I’ve been spotting all afternoon, nothing that warrants a liner or anything, just enough to give me hope. I’m praying so hard that tomorrow will be the day that I can finally say is CD1. I am so ready for this long 51 day cycle to end I can’t even see straight. I’ve been so worried that this could turn into another eight to ten month dry spell. It looks, at least right now, that that won’t be the case.

Whew!

10/11/11

So Then THAT Happened!

Alright. I’ll say it.

UNCLE!

I haven’t got the slightest idea what the hell my body is doing right now. I’ve never had a chart that looked like this before- the closest one that I’ve had was last July- a cycle that I’m still half convinced was anovulatory due to both the lack of a clear bi-phasic pattern and the weird menstrual period I had (two days spotting, one light, one spotting, and then nothing). I started spotting right when I was due to begin my period anyway so I just chalked it up to an awful cycle and moved on.

Chart

Except now I STILL haven’t started and now, today, FF gave me crosshairs. Sort of.

chartgraph_module.php

If there is hope to be had, (and that’s a BIG if), my temperatures have been slowly rising for the last week. Does that mean anything? I doubt it! Two pregnancy tests (that I just realized I forgot to chart) one today and one a couple of days ago say that I’m not pregnant.

So now I’m finding myself googling parsley tea (blech!) and other natural methods of bring on AF. Lovely.

I just feel out of whack, ya know? Emotionally I’m kind of a mess. It’s like having all of the fun of PMS without the release that normal comes at the end. Only now I’m dealing with two months worth of bottled up drama instead of my usual one.

I just want this cycle to be over so I can move on. I think 45 days is more than enough, don’t you?

10/2/11

Still Waiting

So this is where we’re at today:

image

Cycle Day one million, three hundred thousand, nine hundred and twelve. Give or take a few.

What?

Well it sure as heck FEELS like it!

I’m doing everything that I can to not obsess about the fact that I still haven’t started yet. That I still haven’t ovulated yet. That I still haven’t earned the right to start over.

And friends, it’s killing me!

I am so afraid that I’ve slipped back into an anovulatory pattern that I can’t seem to see straight. The last time this happened I went for ten long months without starting.

I know what your thinking. Yeah, I could call the doctor and request something to get things moving. But I don’t want to. It doesn’t have anything at all to do with my personal beliefs or my husband not wanting to. It really is nothing more than I don’t want to go there. Yet.

I have a confession to make.

I um… haven’t been taking any of my supplements or vitamins since I went out of town the second week of September. No Maca no folic acid. Nada.

And I don’t know why. Pouting, maybe?

I’ve also gained like ten pounds (which brings my three month total up to a whopping seventeen pounds. YOWZA!

Which could also have something to do with my not ovulating,

But those things stop now. I made a couple of healthy recipes this weekend to get me started out on the right foot this week. One of them, pumpkin and chocolate chip muffins are amazing (and only about 160 calories a piece!). I also met up with a friend of mine who just happens to be a personal trainer and got her to come up with a fitness plan to whip my sorry tail back into shape. You know, a shape other than ROUND that is!!

And J and I took the time to go for a walk tonight. I am recommitting to my health this week. These last few weeks I’ve really been struggling in a lot of areas of my life. Most of it has to do with feeling out of control- y’all ever feel like that?

So here we go. Week One of Operation Get My Backside in Gear is off and running!

9/24/11

Choosing Happiness

I think every once in a while it does us good to just re-boot, re-start, and re-work the way we've been doing things.

This second anovulatory cycle (I had one in July as well) as been harder for me than I expected. Being able to conceive isn't something that I ever questioned before. Hell, getting knocked up accidentally and through two different forms of birth control had me convinced that we only had to choose the month and BAM! I'd be pregnant.

Now. Now I know that's not the case.

I think accepting secondary infertility is almost scarier than just being infertile. Much in the same way that intermittent reinforcement is the strongest type of enforcement that exists, being able to get pregnant once and then not be able to again is mind boggling. If I had never conceived before I could somehow accept that it just wasn't possible for me. Having done it accidentally before I'm stuck in this unending cycle of not understanding what I'm doing wrong. I've even wondered in passing if I should just get drunk and attack my husband on the desk- it seemed to work the first time. Maybe that's what's wrong.

I am so incredibly grateful for my son. He has taught me so much about life that I really can't express the depth of my feelings- both as his mother and as his friend.

But now, after this second month where I haven't ovulated (and yeah, life got in the way. Stress impacts it, blah, blah, blah) I've come to realize that what will happen will happen. Maybe it'll be what I want, maybe it won't.

I wanted to get pregnant in two years ago. I wanted to get pregnant this last May. And then in June. And July. And August. And September... I am choosing to focus on my health, employment, marriage, mothering, life in October.

In November we will decide whether to keep our appointment with the RE. Hell, I don't even know if our private insurance will cover the RE appointment.

But I do know that I've gained thirteen pounds in the last two months- largely because my focus has been on my thermometer, my charts, my CM, my CP, and NOT on what I am putting into my mouth and on my health.

And that's just silly. I'm going to keep charting so I'll know what's happening but I'm going to try and shift my focus back on living real life and not wishing away my months on something that I have little to no control over.

9/18/11

Another Anovulatory Cycle

I'm trying really hard not to be frustrated right now. This month started out so promising, my chart was finally looking like it made sense. And then the bottom just fell out.

If anything I guess I should be grateful that I have this opportunity to see how stress impacts my body. I've read for years that stress can adversely impact my cycles and bodily functions. This month has given me an opportunity to see that first hand.

And it's ugly. I'm actually looking forward to this cycle being over so I have the chance to start over. We don't plan on trying next month, but I think I'll find it reassuring to see numbers that make sense.

One more week. Just one more week (hopefully!) until I can start over.

I just have to keep my eye on the ball. And relax.

CD 20: Ugliness

Okay. So the last time I blogged my chart was looking fabulous and all was right with the world.

Last Friday my husband, son, and I all drove up to my in-laws new place to help them get settled into their new house. We stayed in a hotel on Friday and Saturday night and spent all day, both days moving and unpacking boxes. I woke up Saturday morning with a cold from hell. I was sneezing, coughing, congested, and blowing my nose every five minutes. It was NOT NICE. I stocked up on Zinc and just made the best of it. Thankfully, by Sunday I was feeling mostly human (I must have had the shortest cold in the history of the planet).

Monday I hoped in the car and drove three hours South to attend a software conference for work. They put us up in the Sheraton Hotel, my room was on the twelve floor- and can I just say how much I HATE that particular hotel chain? The rooms are sparsely furnished (really, no fridge?), the linens feel like they were made out of plastic, the duvet was some sort of polyester blend, and I must have had to walk a full half mile to get from the parking garage to my room. All in all, it was a royal pain in the neck!

But I digress. Nine meetings and two key note speakers later and it was over. I never sleep well without my husband and honestly I doubt I slept more than two or three hours each night I was away. I drove back to our home (leaving my husband and son with the in-laws an hour away) and went straight into work. By the time I got home on Wednesday, I had been going for almost twenty hours straight. I tossed and turned Wednesday night and slept in a little on Thursday before heading back into the office.

About two hours into my workday I received some difficult news about my brother. My husband, mother, and I are sharing responsibility for raising my neice and nephew. My brother and his crazy, soon to be ex-wife both have substance abuse problems that resulted in the State removing my neice and nephew and placing them with us. My brother has been clean now since last March and has been the star pupil of the state substance abuse program. Well, at least until last weekend. Apparentely, his last drug screen came back positive for cocaine. To say that this is hearbreaking would be a huge understatement. Coincidentally, the children's mother also failed her drug/alcohol test this week. We don't know what she was using though. As a result both parents have lost visiting privileges with their children for several weeks. This of course, was devastating for the children as well.

By Thursday night I was sick at heart and really missing my family. About eleven I looked at my bed (covered in laundry that needed to be folded) and made the decision to drive the two hours to be with my husband. I got back to my in-laws house (in a different time zone-an hour later) around two in the morning, took a shower, hugged my husband, and crashed. It was heavenly. Home is wherever he and our son is. I even managed to sneak a hug from my son before I crashed.

So. Needless to say, between being sick, hotel hopping, unpacking, a business trip, insane work hours, and personally upsetting news my chart is pathetic. I haven't ovulated yet and I'm not really holding out hope either. I think this month is just a throw away month- it kills me though as we had previously decided to take next month off from trying. The majority of my family have birthdays in July- including my mother and son. I just don't want another Cancer. Ya know?

So here it is. I'm keeping with the contrasting chart that I was using for comparison before.

You can really tell when the craziness started, CD 14 was the first morning I woke up in the hotel with that cold. I had initially chosen to ignore that temp, but after seeing subsequent temperatures I decided to let it stand. Until then though my chart was downright perfect.

Oh well. Everything for a reason, right?

A Little Bedside Humor

One of the most interesting things about the process of trying to conceive is how much it changes your personal life. My husband and I have been together for a long time (though we haven't been actually married for most of that time) so any kind of newness or shyness that we might have once had has loooonng since worn off. I think that's normal though, and frankly, welcome. I like that we're comfortable with each other- I like that we can laugh, even during times where laughter may not necessarily be expected.

Take last night for instance: We're following an abbreviated SMEP, basically we're trying to BD on the days that the plan recommends, but we're skipping the ovulation testing and using only BBT, CM, and CP to determine ovulation. This is a good compromise for us and one that we can both live with. The only thing is that it does require that we BD more than we typically would. I know that's sad, but honestly, with everything that we have going on right now it's just the cold, hard, truth.

We tease each other about 'taking one for the team' on the nights that we really don't want to BD but go through the motions anyway because it's the right time to. Don't get me wrong, it's still a helluva lot of fun, but the kind of fun that I could be equally happy postponing. Know what I mean?

So anyway, last night was one of those nights. Poor J has been battling killer allergies on top of a head cold for the last few days and really was just not in the mood. Honestly, I really wasn't expecting him to be able to finish- we're not eighteen anymore and he was really having to work a little harder at it than I think he wanted to (or typically needs to). We have an understanding that we're not going to stress out about it, if it happens, great- if not, well, there's always tomorrow. Thankfully, it doesn't stress his ego out or anything and it certainly doesn't hurt my feelings any either.

So after almost giving up he decides that he wants to try and finish. I'm thinking (I'm ashamed to admit) "whatever, lets just get on with this and get to bed". So he gets back to work and right as he is finishing up, like right then, we hear Etta James' voice come over the radio singing 'At Last' (can you hear her voice in your head?). I probably undid most of his hard work because I totally busted out laughing. I could not get control of myself. J was doubled over next to me hyperventilating he was laughing so hard- it seriously was just one of those moments, ya know?

I didn't bother laying back with my feet in the air, there hardly seemed any point after all of the laughing I did, but man o man, if a child was created out of that moment, I'm glad I'll always have something wonderful to remember it by!

Anyway, here's today's chart with that adjusted June overlay. It's still following the same pattern- which is cool because it really helps give me a good idea when I can expect to ovulate.

So This is Interesting...

I've been playing around on FF trying to see if I can discern any pattern between this month's chart and past months. I noticed that June seemed to be just a step or two off but pretty dang close so I played around in the analyzer function and came up with this:

I set June to pin on CD 3 against this month and it's a near perfect match. This more than anything bolsters my thinking that I'll ovulate on or really near CD 14. If that's the case, I'll have moved my ovulation date up by six days since adding the supplements. That's freakin' awesome! That gives me a fifteen day LP!

It's nice to see something that actually makes sense to me for a change!

CD 8: Getting Crazy

Since May when I began charting (half way through my cycle) I've noticed that I have been moving more and more towards a more typical ovulation day. In May I didn't ovulate until around day 20(something), in June it was a few days earlier, July was anovulatory, and August was on CD 15 (yay!). Despite what my chart indicates, I think that it's likely that I'll probably ovulate around CD 14 - CD-16 this month. I'm planning on the earlier ovulation date. I believe strongly that this progress is due to several factors, the least of which not being the fact that I have completely gotten away from caffeine (booya!). Additionally I have added into my diet supplements like Maca, L-Arginine, B6, B12, and a few other things. All in all, while I have not yet gotten pregnant I do think I've taken major steps toward living a lot more healthily. Those are all good things.

I've also gotten a lot more in tune with my body- and that's not something that I'm entirely sure is a good thing. Take today for example: I've been having these really weird twingy like pains right about where I would expect my right ovary to be. Strange because I'm still a solid five days (at minimum!) away from ovulation. I'll sometimes feel it when I ovulate and this does feel somewhat similar, but it's different. This is almost like when you're running and you get a side stitch- only in a different place.

Before this recent newfound intunement? Eh, I'm just getting old.

Now? Shoot! Am I getting ready to ovulate super early this month? Maybe I should go out and get some of those ovulation predictor kits. We just BD’d last night, I wonder what my chances are of convincing J to give it a go again…

See what I mean?

Craziness!

And another thing, what’s the deal with keeping track of when you BD? I’ve never really cared overly much until now. I mean, I’d note it on my personal calendar *just in case* but always marked it on whatever day it was when I got up that morning. If it was after midnight but before I went to sleep, I still counted it as the same day. Now? Hell, now the desire to be precise is overwhelming! I know deep down that it doesn’t matter one shred what I mark on my calendar, but the knowledge that I’m following something makes me feel better. It gives me a measure of control over something that it otherwise out of my control.

So last night when I marked my calendar before going to bed I indicated our BD on Sunday (as it was after 2am)- and I’ve been driving myself crazy with it ever since. If we’re supposed to start BDing on CD 8 (today) , should I count that BD or not? Does two hours into CD 8 count or should we try again tonight and count that?

ARGH!Like it matters!!!

I know where this craziness comes from. I’m competitive- I always have been. J’s sister is pregnant and now I want more than ever to be pregnant at the same time. He has a large Scots/Irish/Catholic family and has a couple of cousins that he grew up with very close in age. He would love it if we could have the same set up- even if we do live on opposite sides of the country. Incidentally, my family is Italian and between us, I’m pretty sure that we’re responsible for half the population of this side of the country. One would think that I could get knocked up easily!

I know that I’m crazy right now- really, just back away and I promise to be better in a little while.

You know, as soon as I get pregnant!

Aaaaaand my sister in law just called to tell us that she's pregnant with her second child.

I'm happy for her, I really really am. I'm not kidding when I say that I love her dearly and that I really am happy for her.

She's three and a half weeks along now.

Great.

Now I feel like an ass.
